Sting is set to receive the highest possible honor from The Ivors Academy. The Wallsend-born musician will receive the coveted Academy Fellow award at The Ivors ceremony on May 18 in London.

The academy describes the honor as being reserved for those who have truly reshaped and redefined the art and craft of music creation.

Sting commented: “Of all the awards in the world of music, The Ivors are for me, the most prestigious.”

Sting will become only the 23rd Fellow that the Academy has inducted in its 79-year history. Past recipients include Sir Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, The Bee Gees, Annie Lennox, and Kate Bush.
