Sammy Hagar is gearing up to celebrate Van Halen with his The Best of All Worlds tour later this year, but the Red Rocker has new music in mind as well. Hagar released his last album — the conceptual “Crazy Times,” recorded with his band The Circle — during 2022. Now, he tells us, more new material may be coming: 

“I’ve been writing songs, unfortunately — when I say unfortunately it’s ’cause I’m not driven to do a record again. I lose a few hundred thousand dollars every time I make a record these days. I don’t mind that, but I have to really be in a mood to go in and record. But I’ve been in a mood for writing and I’ve been writing some really cool stuff and it’s gonna drive me crazy, eventually, and I’ll go in and make a record.” SOUNDCUE :22

Hagar’s The Best of All Worlds tour, with special guest Loverboy, kicks off July 13 in West Palm Beach, Fla. and plays 27 dates before wrapping Aug. 31 in St. Louis.

For the tour Hagar has replaced Circle guitarist Vic Johnson with Joe Satriani. Hagar has said the tour’s setlist will focus on his decade-long tenure with Van Halen, which began with 1986’s “5150” album, as well as favorites from his solo career. Circle bassist (and Van Halen bandmate) Michael Anthony and drummer Jason Bonham will remain in the band. 

Last year Hagar added to his roster of alcohol brands by unveiling Red Rocker Lager, a new beer made in and distributed from Detroit.
