The Smile have surprised music fans by announcing their second album of 2024, Cutouts. The new 10-track collection is due out on October 4th via XL Recordings. The trio, comprised of Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Geenwood along with Tom Skinner, also shared the first two singles from Cutouts, “Foreign Spies” and “Zero Sum.” Cutouts joins the Smile’s previous release of 2024, Wall of Eyes, which came out back in January. The Smile’s new album is produced by Sam Petts-Davies, and was recorded in Oxford and at Abbey Road Studios during the same time period that the band recorded Wall Of Eyes – evoking comparisons to Radiohead’s similar sessions that produced Kid A and Amnesiac. Earlier this month, the Smile released a limited 12-inch vinyl exclusively to independent record stores which featured the new songs, “Don’t Get Me Started” and “The Slip,” and both tracks will also be featured on Cutouts.
