During an interview with Metal Global, Megadeth bassist James LoMenzo revealed that the band is currently at work on a new record. The album will be a follow-up to 2022’s The Sick, the Dying…And the Dead!, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 album chart. “We’re actively working on music right now,” LoMenzo said. “We’re talking with Dave [Mustaine, Megadeth’s singer/guitarist] every day. Dave really wants to do another record and just get something fresh out there.”
LoMenzo replaced Megadeth co-founder David Ellefson in 2022, after Ellefson was kicked out of the band following a sex scandal. But the bass parts on Megadeth’s last record were done by Testament’s Steve Di Giorgio. “When I had just joined the band, they just finished recording it,” says LoMenzo. “I begged, I pleaded, could I please play bass on this? And they were, like, ‘We’ve been doing this for two years. We just have to get on the road. It’s done.’ But Steve Di Giorgio did an amazing job.” (Louder Sound)
