The college football season kicks off in just over a month, and sports fans across the country can’t wait for the games to start. To get fans even more excited for the upcoming SEC season, Luke Combs’ rendition of the Tom Petty classic, “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” is being used in a hype video put together by the South Eastern Conference. In a new Instagram reel shared by the SEC Network, they captioned their dramatic post, “Turn this one ALL the way up 🔊 Our new SEC 🏈 anthem is here!” The hype video, which features highlights from all the legendary teams and iconic stadiums in the SEC, has the text “Luke Combs 🤝 Tom Petty” written over the clip. Combs’ ties to the SEC goes back a few years, when in 2021 Luke wrote the SEC football season anthem, “South on Ya,” which featured lyrics that included references to various teams in the conference.
