Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted has partnered with Reverb to sell off his collection of musical instruments, including the bass he used while touring in support of the ‘Black Album.’ Newsted has selected over 60 instruments for the sale that he’s acquired over his celebrated 40-year music career, many of which were used while recording and touring with Metallica. “Over the last 30 or 40 years, as I’ve traveled around playing music for people, I’ve gathered some cool sh*t,” Newsted says. “[But] I can’t play all of them. I’d like to get them in the hands of some people. They deserve to be enjoyed!”

Speaking fondly of the Alembic Europa Custom 10-string bass used on the ‘Black Album’ tour, Newsted says, “This thing is an absolute beast. The weight alone, you’ll have to be a straight bada** just to carry it, let alone play it. I was able to take it out on tour – the ‘Black Album’ tour – but I want to see what someone can do with it. It’s a really special piece of metal history.” (Guitar World)
