Flint’s Classic Rock – 103.9 The Fox

Jane’s Addiction announced on Monday (September 16) that they were canceling all remaining dates on their current North American tour. The move follows an onstage altercation in Boston on Friday (Sept. 13) where frontman Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro. The group’s Instagram statement reads, “The band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.” Bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins released a joint statement with Navarro that says the tour cancellation is, “Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell.”

They go on to write, “Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs. Our hearts are broken.” Farrell wrote in a statement of his own, “It is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.” (Consequence of Sound)
