Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple, a new documentary focused on one of the key members of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, is set to premiere at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival before airing on HBO on June 22. Disciple, which is directed by Bill Teck, will highlight the legendary career of the beloved New Jersey rock star and celebrated actor in The Sopranos. The trailer for the documentary features many of Van Zandt’s contemporaries praising the music veteran, including Paul McCartney, Eddie Vedder, Bill Wyman, Bono, Darlene Love, Joan Jett, Peter Gabriel, and Bruce Springsteen.
The documentary also features interviews with The Sopranos creator David Chase and Van Zandt’s co-star on the show, Vincent Pastore. “He was a great performer, great songwriter, great producer,” Springsteen says of Van Zandt. “We were so close, I just wanted him near me. He just became my rock n’ roll brother, instantly.” (Rolling Stone)
