Dead & Company is the latest touring band to requiring proof of a Covid vaccination or at least documentation of a negative Covid test for concert attendance. As is slowly becoming commonplace, the band is protecting its fans and crew against the rising Delta variant sweeping the nation.

The Dead sent a message out to fans via social media platforms, that read:

We care so much about everyone involved in making this tour happen & all of you attending, so we will be requiring proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or negative test result within 48 hrs of your event to attend select dates of the tour.

Co-founding drummer Bill Kreutzmann believes that although revered by the Dead’s audience, one of the primary reasons why the band is so beloved is because they were never larger than life, just happy and proud, working musicians: “We’re people, we weren’t gods or anything. I know we’re held in incredibly high esteem — our Deadhead fans, thank you very, very much — but we are just people and we all learned to play an instrument and we got together at the right time. It was synchronicity at its best, I would say.”
