Bob Dylan completely revamped his typical setlist for his first two performances at this summer’s traveling Outlaw Fest. Instead of sticking to the standard setlists from his recent tours that heavily feature songs from the 2020 album, Rough and Rowdy Ways, as well as older classics, Dylan played a series of deep cuts from his legendary catalog, as well as choice covers from artists who have inspired him over the years. Dylan started Friday’s show with a cover of Willie Dixon’s blues classic, “My Babe,” followed by surprising renditions of Chuck Berry’s “Little Queenie,” the Fleetwoods’ “Mr. Blue,” Hank Williams’ “Cold, Cold Heart,” and Sanford Clark’s “The Fool.”

Dylan’s set on Saturday featured covers of Grateful Dead’s “Stella Blue” and Paul Davis’ truck-driving country classic, “Six Days on the Road.” The 83-year-old music legend played harmonica quite a bit during these shows, which also came as a surprise to Dylan’s longtime fans. (Consequence of Sound)
