Flint’s Classic Rock – 103.9 The Fox

Out Friday, February 2nd, is Kula Shaker‘s “Natural Magick,” the first album in 25 years by the British band to feature all five of its original members. Keyboardist Jay Darlington, who left after the “Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts” album in 1999, returned to the fold during 2022, which frontman Crispian Mills tells us spurred Kula Shaker on to make new music:

“It was far more than just having an original member playing. It was suddenly, it was just a chemistry that you didn’t realize it was quite as potent as it was until it was all four of you there. We just clicked and got really excited about making a new record.” :26

During his time away Darlington toured with Oasis and worked with the bands Les Fleur de Lys and Magic Bus. “Natural Magick” is the follow-up to the 2022 double album “1st Congregational Church of Eternal Love and Free Hugs.”

Mills is the son of British actress Hayley Mills and has worked in film himself, writing scripts and co-directing the horror comedy “A Fantastic Fear of Everything” in 2012. He also directed another horror comedy, “Slaughterhouse Rulez,” in 2018.

Kula Shaker is celebrating “Natural Magick’s” release with acoustic performances and signing sessions at record stores in England before heading to Japan to begin touring on February 13th. North American dates are expected later in the year.
