Flint’s Classic Rock – 103.9 The Fox

Krist Novoselic paid tribute to his former bandmate Kurt Cobain during his show in the Nirvana frontman’s former home of Aberdeen, Washington. Novoselic’s new group, the Bona Fide Band, played a version of “Love Buzz,” the lead single from Nirvana’s debut album, Bleach, during their performance on Make Music Day on Friday. Nirvana’s rendition of “Love Buzz” was a cover of a song that was originally recorded by the Dutch Nederbeat band Shocking Blue back in 1969.

The Bona Fide Band is comprised of Novoselic on bass, Screaming Trees’ Mark Pickerel on drums, Jillian Raye and Jennifer Johnson on vocals, and Kathy Moore on guitar. Novoselic founded the group to promote the Cascade Party, the rock legend’s new political party in Washington. “It’s not just a run-of-the-mill party,” Novoselic said. “We’re trying to do something different, we’re trying to be seminal, we’re trying to break ground. I’m also looking for something like that.” (Billboard)
