Carlos Santana will release his latest album, Blessings And Miracles, on October 15th via BMG. The album features collaborations with Metallica‘s Kirk Hammett, Steve Winwood, Matchbox 20‘s Rob Thomas, songwriter Diane Warren, Chris Stapleton, and the late-Chick Corea. Santana and Rob Thomas have reunited for the album’s lead single titled, “Move,” which dropped yesterday (August 18th).

The track pairs Santana and Thomas together again over two decades after 1999’s multiple Grammy-winning smash “Smooth.”

In the press release for the new set, Carlos Santana said of the new album:

The title of this album comes from my belief that we’re born with heavenly powers that allows us to create blessings and miracles. The world programs you to be unworthy of those gifts, but we have to utilize light, spirit and soul — they’re indestructible and immutable. Those are the three main elements on this album.

Back in 2018, Santana was part of a major triple bill at London’s Hyde Park with old friends Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood. We asked Winwood about his longtime friendship with Carlos Santana, whom he served as an opening act for several years back: “Yes we do, absolutely do go back, yes. We go back to, sort of, late-’60s when he used to. . . he and Buddy Miles used to get up and jam with us when we were in Traffic in San Francisco. I’ve sort of been in, sort of, touch with him on odd occasions since then. And we talked about the possibility of playing together a few years ago, as well, which just for some reason people kept it from fruition.”
