The Eagles have added six new stops to the band’s “Hotel California 2021” tour. The trek will now begin at New York’s Madison Square Garden over two nights — August 22nd and 24th, before hitting Boston’s TD Garden for a pair of shows on August 27th and 28th — followed by two Washington, D.C. gigs on August 31st and September 1st at Capitol One Arena.
Back in October 2019, the band, which features Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, wrapped a handful of “Hotel California” shows in Vegas. The 31-song concerts, which featured an accompanying orchestra and choir, kicked off with the classic album, followed by the band playing a further 23 tunes — including a few dips into both Henley and Walsh’s solo catalogues.
Joe Walsh admitted to us that it took time and soul searching for the Eagles to find a genuine way to carry on without its leader and driving force, Glenn Frey, who died in 2016: “We spent a long time after Glenn passed in discussions and we needed to put some time in there. But, in the course of talking, we started think ‘If the Eagles continued, what would that be?’ Gradually, some clarity started to come on it and we reached out to Glenn’s son Deacon — and he’s a pretty good musician. And he said, ‘Anything I can do — I’m in.’”
