Foo Fighters and Rage Against The Machine have been announced as the headliners for The Boston Calling’s 2022 festival. Rolling Stone posted the bands are the only two acts confirmed for the event, which runs next Memorial Day weekend — May 27th, 8th, and 29th, 2022 at Boston, Massachusetts’ Harvard Athletic Complex.

The festival’s complete lineup “will feature over 60 artists, including an additional headliner, all of which will be announced in the coming months.”

The scrapped 2021 festival was also slated to feature the Foos and Rage headlining — along with Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Boston Calling’s co-founder and chief executive Brian Appel said in a statement: “We couldn’t be happier to return in 2022 and deliver a full-scale festival with two of the world’s most celebrated rock bands as our headliners. We’ve spent the past year working on a festival that our fans can really look forward to, and we’re so excited to share more news and surprises as we get into next year.”

Guitarist Tom Morello told us a while back why Rage Against The Machine’s appeal has endured: “It’s a product of the very unique personalities and chemistry of the four guys in the band. None of us could have made songs that sound like this without the other three. It was an absolutely unheard-of combination, both musically, ethnically and, in Zack (de la Rocha’s) lyrics, the point of view expressed in his lyrics was one that had never been heard on the radio before.”
