It’s the third day of school, and wow what a blessing! I started this job at the very end of the school year, so I didn’t really have a chance to get used to my new hours. Being on the air until 7pm, I don’t get to work until around 10 or 10:30. So after putting the kids on the bus just before 8 this morning, I couldn’t help but notice how quiet it was. I mean really, really quiet!
Trying to figure out which one of the fifteen-bazillion things I need to get done around the house I was going to start on, I decided to just kick back and watch an episode of Star Trek: TNG. I didn’t have to clean up the house before the sitter got there, and I didn’t have to make sure the kids had something for lunch… we did all that the night before! I was free to ‘engage’ in some sci-fi awesomeness to start my day, and I can ‘make it so’ every morning if I’d like.
But I’ll most likely use the time to finish some projects around the house, staining the deck, cleaning out the garage, painting the kitchen, etc. Yes, I have all school year to get some things done during that glorious window of uninterrupted silence, so I think I’ll take this first week to ‘boldly go where no one has gone before.’ Well, maybe next week too!
