I love a good storm! But I’ve noticed that as I get older, I find myself more concerned with my family’s safety than with how cool the storm is! And speaking of cool, today’s forecast is quite the opposite.
Not only are we dealing with a heat advisory today (Thursday) from 1pm to 10pm tomorrow night, but a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for the entire WRSR listening area until 5pm. We started the day with a 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms, then it went up to 60%… then 80%… now the Doppler radar shows a big red line of storms barreling toward us!
As far as the storms go, hunker down! Secure loose lawn furniture and decorations. If you’re in a mobile home, be ready to get moving if the storms bring in high winds or the threat of a tornado. And finally, stay cool during the heatwave. Stay hydrated and try to stay out of the sun for prolonged periods. Don’t leave your dogs outside for too long, and make sure they have plenty of water.
